Resume

The third biennial meeting Arte, Cidade e Urbanidades Meeting intends to reflect on the disputes and social, political and imaginary reshaping of urbanities in the current scenario in Brazil and Latin America and to stimulate a discussion of actions that arise in the interaction between bodies, territories and experiences in the public space. In a moment marked by the overlapping of different crises, we want to think about the reformulations and approaches of artistic strategies in urban spaces in the search for critical-reflexive propositions that deal with the challenges and limits of art in the urban context. In this sense, we intend to debate the current urgencies and emergencies of urban space through art, considering the mechanisms that turn the city a state of exception and the forms of existence/resistance in the face of these transformations.

The event, which will take place from November 30th to December 4th, 2020, consists of an online program, with activities (conversations, thematic sessions, exhibition, keynote speeches) organized around three themes:

  1. Fiction, Memory and Production of Imaginaries

  2. Expeditions, Displacements and Artistic Practices

  3. Art, Food and Landscape

Artists, researchers, scientists, teachers, creators, content producers, professionals from different fields and intellectuals from any part of the world can submit their works/research projects/ theoretical projects (Portuguese / Spanish) to participate in the thematic sessions and/or artistic practices to participate in a virtual exhibition.
